"I had come to the realization that my fitness and weight levels were a reflection of my lifestyle and that this lifestyle was leading me in the wrong direction very quickly. I tried to be a self-starter in getting more active, and for brief time spans, it worked, but before long I was back to my old patterns of inactivity, with nothing to show for my efforts.

So in July 2011, I made a decision to hire Kelly for one-on-one training to help motivate and teach me how to become more physically fit. During our first meeting to see if we were a good fit to achieve my goals, I realized that Kelly was not interested in just showing me how to work out, but in how to make small changes in thinking and behavior to achieve lasting and permanent changes.

Even though I was convinced she was the right person to mentor me, I still agonized over the money, the commitment, and my track record of failure in achieving lasting results. But I had reached a point that I had exhausted all other choices obvious to me, short of surgery. It was now or never... it was time to put up or shut up...

What convinced me that Kelly was the right personal trainer for me? If you meet her and spend time with her, you realize she lives what she teaches. I knew by the questions she asked me that she was paying attention to what I was saying and not saying. Her answers to my questions were straightforward and hopeful. She convinced me that she would be a supportive and effective partner in this endeavor.

By supportive, I mean that she genuinely saw my potential and actively shared with me every success no matter how much frustration that I showed. By effective, I mean, she listened to my self-proclaimed limitations and doubts but kept me moving in the right direction, making constant course corrections.

Looking back now, I realize why my past attempts failed. I was incredibly frustrated, disappointed, and embarrassed with myself on how far I had let my fitness level drop. It's no wonder that my previous attempts fizzled, I was constantly de-motivating myself. Kelly provided a believable source of positive feedback that slowly replaced the doubts and negativity.

If you told me eight months ago, that I would be off of my CPAP machine, running 6.5 miles in 71 minutes, exercising in public, have cholesterol levels that make my doctor smile, loose two pant sizes and one shirt size, and eating steamed asparagus regularly... I would have called you a dreamer. There is no doubt that it took a lot of dedication on my part to achieve this. There is also no doubt that without Kelly’s guidance, I would not have achieved this on my own.

Kelly has imparted a new vision for myself, shattered self-imposed limitations, and given me a new set of tools to blaze a new path, a new future where I feel enabled."
